Formed in 1907 as the Maidenhead Town Scouts, our first Scoutmaster was T.R Dark and the Scout Troop had the title of Prince Christians Own; the name was given duing the inaurguration in 1908. The Group was registered as 1st Maidenhead on 10th October 1919 and on 28th October 1928 the Troop re-registered to include the Wolf Cubs. When they began, the Cubs were known as 'Bakers Own'. During the 1939-45 War, the Group closed down and when it re-started, on 3rd July 1946, it did so as a Sea Scout Group. Due to a fire at Scout HQ our original records are not now available, but we do still have and display the 'Bakers Own' flag in our current Scout Hut. We are the oldest group in the area and the only Sea Scout division in the district - get involved! Click on the 'contact us' icon to get in touch. |
